It’s been a few months since I did a postpartum update! When I stopped going to Pure Barre, I stopped working out altogether and I felt like there wasn’t a lot to report on. I’ve had a few people ask about my goals, though, in the recent weeks. On my Instagram I’ve mentioned I started doing BBG, and have had a lot of questions about it!
When I was 5 weeks postpartum, I started doing a barre class about 2 times a week. I got cleared to workout, since I’d stopped bleeding a few weeks earlier(TMI sorry haha). I was so eager to get started and workout again! A combination of working out and trying to be conscious about what I ate helped me drop a lot of the weight in the beginning. I gained about 50 pounds during my pregnancy, but was able to drop 30 by the time Bastian was about 2 months old.
When Bastian was about 4 months old, I stopped going to Pure Barre. Although I absolutely loved Pure Barre, I had to stop simply because I didn’t have a regular babysitter. I couldn’t fit it into my schedule. I didn’t really workout at all from then until about a month ago, when I started doing Kayla Itsines BBG. I’m currently on week 3 and it’s going great!
I tried doing BBG a few times in college, and I was never able to get it to stick. This time around, I started a group chat with a few friends that are all doing BBG, too. It helps us stay accountable, and otherwise, I struggle to stay motivated.
Bastian is just over 7 months old now. Seriously, where does the time go? But, I’m happy to say that I’m now, officially, back down to my pre-baby weight! We don’t own a scale, as I feel it enables some of my more destructive and obsessive habits. So, I’m not 100% sure when I reached my pre-baby weight. But I’ll assume it was sometime in the last month, around the time I started working out again.
Being healthy has nothing to do with being skinny, though. So, I’ll continue to not own a scale, and I’m going to focus on getting fitter and building muscle! The BBG program is 12 weeks, so I’ll write an update in 9 weeks to share my progress(which will hopefully include a booty that isn’t so flat haha).
I’ve got to be honest, hitting publish on this blog post is a little hard. No one likes the way they look right after they have a baby. It’s a hard thing to know that as soon as I hit publish, the whole world will be able to see these. But it’s also helpful to know that you can get your body back after your baby. And I’m proud of how I look now. Stretchmarks, appendectomy scars, and all.
