Seth and I absolutely love hiking, camping, and being outdoors. Right before we found out that we were pregnant with Bastian, we were thinking about moving to Chicago, since Seth had a job offer there. Ultimately, we decided to stay in Utah and buy a house here, and one of those reasons was because of all of the outdoor recreation here.
One of my favorite things about camping has always been being able to look up at the stars once the sun has set. Because you’re outside of the city, you can actually see the stars. During normal day to day life, we don’t take very much time to appreciate our environment and the rest of nature. Luckily, being in Utah, there are a lot of opportunities to head outside of the city and enjoy some fresh air and the beautiful sky.
Our love for Utah and being outdoors had a huge impact on how we decorated the nursery. We came across a company on Facebook that paints unique, glow in the dark star murals on your ceiling, and I instantly knew that that was the finishing touch for Bastian’s room.
This picture is really just to show you that you can’t see it unless all of the lights are off. If we leave the lights on in his room, or the window open, the glow in the dark paint on the ceiling will charge during the day. This way, the mural is still visible in the early hours of the morning. I went into his room to get a new pair of pajamas for him a few nights ago, around 4 am, and you could still see a lot of the mural, even though it was dimmer than when we had gone to bed a few hours earlier.
Because it’s so realistic, it was a little tricky to get photos of the ceiling; it’s very similar to trying to get a picture of the actual night sky. Seth spent a good amount of time a few nights ago in the nursery, taking pictures of the ceiling.
