While not as large of an area as going to the actual Redwood forest, we felt like we got a pretty good taste of the Redwoods by heading to Muir Woods. And it gave us time to come back and have lunch in the city.
The entire time we were driving up and down windy roads to head down to the forest, we kept talking about how there’s no way our little Camry back home would’ve made the drive. I mentioned the Outlander Sport from Mitsubishi that we drove in my San Francisco post. When we picked up the car, the thing we were most excited for was to drive it through the Redwoods.
When we realized we wouldn’t be going to the Redwoods, and therefore could not drive through the gorgeous scenery we had originally envisioned, we were a little disappointed. While not necessary, we wanted to get some pictures of us driving through the forest. As we were leaving, we saw a spot on the side of the road that would be beautiful for pictures, but there was no parking allowed on the road. There was no one behind us, so I stopped and Seth ran ahead to take pictures as I drove towards him. Aaaaand then a bunch of cars appeared behind me, so I couldn’t come to a full stop. Seth had to jump into the car as I was still driving. (I was going relatively slow though, so while we may seem like dare devils, we were only slightly adventurous 😉 )
We absolutely loved walking through Muir Woods. Bastian was such a trooper throughout the whole thing. Almost everyone we walked past stopped to tell us how cute our baby was. Not to brag, but he’s definitely pretty cute.
If you’re in the San Francisco area, I definitely recommend driving to the other side of the bay to stop at the Muir Woods for a day. It was absolutely gorgeous. And next time, we’ll definitely plan better and make sure we go to the Redwood Forest National Park, too.
