I know this is a little controversial. Anytime someone talks about anything related to plastic surgery, even something like botox or fillers, peoples reactions are usually pretty strong. Some love it, others hate it, and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of people who are in the middle. But, I wanted to tell you a little about my experience getting botox at 25 years old.

Prevention

About a week ago, I went and got my botox reupped. Botox isn’t something that lasts forever, like all fillers, so you have to get it touched up about every 6-8 months. The only time before this I’ve gotten botox, was at the beginning of February(of this year. So, 9 months ago).

When I posted on my Instagram stories about getting botox, one of the most common questions that I got was why I was getting botox while I’m so young. And before I considered getting botox, I would’ve had the exact same question!

Ultimately, it’s about prevention. Botox is a muscle relaxant. So, no, it doesn’t stretch out and alter your face. Movies make botox seem like this crazy plastic surgery that makes you emotionless and stretched out. You DO need to make sure you go to someone good to prevent a saggy face(I loved going to SkinSpirit!). But that just isn’t what getting botox in any normal sense will do to your face. Since it relaxes the muscles where it is injected, it will stop wrinkles from forming where the botox is applied.

You should do what makes you confident

Something that I have always been insecure about is the deep lines in my forehead. I got to a point where I constantly wanted to photoshop out the lines on my forehead when I was posting pictures of myself. I wasn’t confident. I’m very expressive with my face, and so those lines were pretty deep. Getting botox has allowed me to feel confident smiling and being expressive with my face because I know it doesn’t mean that I’m getting deep wrinkles in my forehead at the age of 25.

@auroramccausland

not for everyone but the creasing in my forehead has always been an insecurity of mine! ##botoxcheck

Where can you get botox?

There are a surprising amount of uses for botox. The most common is what I did, which is for wrinkles on your forehead, crows feet, and lines in between your eyebrows. You can also get it in your jaw to keep you from grinding your teeth! Another really common use is to get it injected in your top lip for a “lip flip”. It essentially gives you a mini lip filler while also helping cover a gummy smile. I’m not an expert by any means, but if it’s something you’re curious about, I’d suggest visiting your local SkinSpirit and have a consultation!

What’s the pricing?

The pricing is going to vary based on where you go. Remember to thoroughly research an injector before scheduling an appointment. Personally, I feel most comfortable if someone I know has already received injections from that location! At the SkinSpirit in Salt Lake City, the dysport I got(similar to botox, just a little different, but they do the same thing!) was about $4.20 a unit. I got 75 unit, so it came out to $318!

It’s definitely something to save for but in my opinion, so worth it.

And if you do decide to schedule an appointment at a SkinSpirit location, you can get $50 off any service using my name “AURORA” or the code “YOURBF50” if you are outside of Utah.

Let me know in the comments if you have any other questions I’ve missed!

Before getting pregnant with Rosen, I had this ideal, that somehow I would get Bastian potty trained before the baby came. Because wouldn’t it be nice to only pay for diapers for one child? Bastian was just over two when Rosen was born, and I didn’t feel like getting him potty trained in the last months of my pregnancy. But, we potty trained him shortly after, and I want to share my tips to help you potty train your toddler!

Let them tell you when they’re ready

This is something that everyone tells you. “Let your toddler tell you when they’re ready to potty train if you want it to be easy!” And I’m here to say….that’s probably your best bet, in most situations. When I was first pregnant, I tried to force it on him. I got him a little seat, and would let him sit on the toilet on his tablet to encourage him to use the toilet. And it didn’t work. I was bummed, but I didn’t want it to be a negative experience, so I backed off.

A few months after Rosen was born, I was sitting on the couch with Bastian, when he turned to me and said “Mom I need to potty”. I was surprised but I picked him up and dashed to the toilet, set up his seat, and put him on the toilet. I was honestly kind of shocked when he just…peed. In the toilet.

No pants for a weekend

I made sure that the house was a comfortable temperature for him, and I kept his pants off for the next few days(except for sleeping). No pants, no underwear.

Ask them if they need to use the potty every hour

I set a timer on my phone, so I wouldn’t forget. Every hour I asked him to go potty. If he was in the middle of something, I would pause what he was watching/playing, so he wouldn’t feel like he was missing anything but taking time to use the toilet. If he had accidents, I would increase how often I asked him to go to the toilet until he stopped having accidents. Then, we went back to an hour.

Explain that they need to listen to their body

That first day, after he had used the toilet a few times and I realized that we were committing to potty training, I sat down and talked to him about listening to his body. I explained that his body would let him know when he needed to use the toilet. And that he just needed to tell me, and I would take him. He knew that it was uncomfortable to have an accident, even without underwear on, and didn’t have very many accidents those first few days.

Pants, no underwear

After about 5 days of no underwear(you may not need this long! I was nervous to introduce pants) he started wearing pants. Honestly, the reason for this was because he had a play date planned on day 5(this was last year, pre COVID) and I obviously did not want him to not wear pants during his play date. But I knew that the security and closeness of underwear could make him feel a little too comfortable, like a diaper, and I wanted to prevent accidents if I could. He had more accidents the first few days of wearing pants then he did the last few days of no pants. But after a few days of pants, when the accidents stopped, we made the switch.

Underwear with their favorite characters makes a big difference

It really does. If you can take your child to Target with you to pick out underwear with their favorite characters on them, they will get excited about it. We started with non character underwear, but he had less accidents in his “favorite” underwear when we did get him some. So if your toddler is still having a lot of accidents, I would recommend giving this a try!

One of the hardest parts of potty training for me, was taking him out of the house. I didn’t want him to have an accident when we weren’t at home. The first few times, I put him in a pull up when we left the house. He always came home with a dry diaper, so we started going on short outings in his underwear. I’d always ask him to go potty before we left, and would offer the potty as an option when we got to our destination before heading home. I never forced him to go, if he told me he didn’t need to.

The only time he ever had an accident out was after falling asleep in the car. He woke up, and peed immediately. Other than that, he’s never had an accident when he’s been out!

I truly think the key is to take cues from your kid when they are ready. On top of that, being patient with them. It’s been almost a year since he was potty trained, (about 9 months) and he still sometimes has accidents. He still wears pull ups to bed. It’s a journey and every child will learn at a different pace! Try to keep it a positive experience for your child!

I never thought I would write the word “potty” so much in a blog post, but here we are.

If I were to summarize the most common DMs in my request box on Instagram, they would be separated into two categories. Bots trying to sell me likes and followers, and real people, like you, asking me how to grow on Instagram. 4 years ago, I was one of those girls, DMing my favorite influencers, asking them how I could be them. And if it was possible to actually make money on instagram.

How easy is it to make money on Instagram?

It is so much easier than you have been led to believe. So many people go about their earning potential on Instagram all wrong. You do not necessarily need tens of thousands of followers to start making money. Yes, having more followers allows you to make more money, more easily. But you can start making money on Instagram with just a few thousand followers.

I spent 4 years learning, searching, googling, and asking for information. I bought guides. And I was always disappointed. I never bought a guide that gave me new information. Everything was googlable. Everything was stuff that I already knew, that I had taught myself, that was basically common knowledge. And that’s not what I wanted to spend my money on!

So, I did the learning myself. I researched and taught myself how to not only grow my instagram from 200 followers to over 50,000, but also how to turn those followers into money. Into cash in my pocket, in my bank account.

And I want the same for all of you.

Introducing, my latest Instagram guide, How to actually make money on Instagram

This guide is life changing. I know I’m tooting my own horn here, but it really is. I am so confident that the information in this guide can get you to a six figure income just on instagram.

What’s included?

I am so confident that this guide is for you, but I want you to also be confident that it is for you. I’ve found that investing in yourself, in your education, is such a powerful step to getting the life that you want. I know that this guide will give you the steps and the knowledge to create the career you want and deserve.

So, what’s included in, How to Actually Make Money On Instagram?

 • Industry standard pay rates
 • Understanding Impressions and Likes
 • What you can expect to start making money
 • How to price yourself
 • All about accepting free product
 • Getting on PR lists
 • Influencer networks(and which ones to avoid)
 • My 4 secrets to stand apart from other pitches
 • How to find the right contacts
 • Pitch templates
 • How to be smart with your contacts
 • Tax and technical things
 • Contracts and payment terms

The guide is over 40 pages long, and also includes 4 video segments and an example contract for you to use(that will cover your butt when working with brands). And the best part? It’s only $100.

It’s only going to be available for two more weeks!

I’ve gone back and forth on this decision, and have decided that this guide will only be available for two more weeks. So, a 3 week shelf life(guide will no longer be available to download and purchase after August 17th, 2020). The reason for this is because I think this information is so valuable and I know that if you’re meant to buy this guide and really start making money on Instagram, that you’ll be able to get it during this time.

This guide will be available later on in the year, potentially, but I don’t have a timeline for that. So if you want it, now is the time to get it. You can click here to purchase!

Let me know in the comments if you have any questions! I can’t wait to see you all grow and reach your Instagram career potential!

A pothos was one of my very first plants. I knew it was an easy plant, and a friend had recommended a great local nursery to get one from. Within a few weeks, I knew I wanted to propagate my pothos. I was so eager to see if it was easy and to grow my plant collection. But I couldn’t find a great blog post to show me how! After I had my first(failed) propagation, I watched a lot of youtube videos to show me how. Now that I have successfully propagated dozens of plants, I wanted to show any new plant parents how.

What is a node?

When I started researching how to propagate plants, I kept hearing the word “node” but it wasn’t quite clear.

A node is where new roots or leaves can grow from the plant. It’s where the growth hormone lives! In a pothos specifically(as well as heartleaf philodendron), it is a small brown bump on the vine.

These little brown bumps along the vine are the nodes!

Once you know where the nodes are, the entire process gets so much simpler. When you cut, you will want to cut below a node. Here’s a picture of where to cut:

I’ve cut my pothos…now what?

Pothos is a fast growing plant, and roots quickly. So, propagating is as simple as putting your new cutting into a jar of water. Switch the water out about once a week to make sure that the roots get enough oxygen.

Because pothos roots so quickly, you can expect to start seeing roots within a week or two!

When the roots get to be about 2 inches long, you’re safe to pot it!

This pothos cutting is ready to be planted!

When you put your rooted pothos cutting into soil, I’d recommend that you keep the soil moist for a few weeks while the roots get acclimated to the new environment. Then, you’ll water it just like any of your other plants!

One big question I had when I first started propagating my plants, was what happens to the mother plant when you make cuts on it? If you’re doing it correctly, your plant will branch off and continue to produce new growth.

This is a pothos I propagated a few months ago. You’ll see the portion I cut from, and another vine immediately sprouted from another node further down the original vine.

In order to make sure that you don’t cause damage to your plant, make sure that you sterilize your scissors/pruners before you use them, and that they’re really sharp! I also recommend cutting at an angle instead of straight across.

Here’s a quick video I made that shows how I propagate a pothos:

I know that I don’t usually do reviews. And I want to make sure it’s clear before I get into the review, that this is in no way sponsored by or affiliated with Owlet. I purchased the Owlet cam myself, and I wanted to give my honest experience with it! I had a hard time finding a lot of substantial information about the camera when I was trying to buy it, and would love to be able to provide necessary information to anyone else looking to purchase the Owlet Cam.

In short – I don’t like it

I really don’t. It is a camera, which is a must for me when it comes to a monitor in my baby’s room. But I think I could’ve gotten another camera that does more for considerably less. So, let’s dive into a few reasons why.

Price point

I think the Owlet camera is overpriced. I think they priced it so high with confidence, because their smart sock is so popular. I love our Smart sock! I’ve used it with both of our boys, and while I know it doesn’t prevent SIDs or anything else, it does provide me with peace of mind. However, it is essentially a very basic camera at a high price point.

Features

Okay, let’s talk about features.

-temperature

-is a camera

It doesn’t move, which is fine for while he is a baby, but once he is bigger and can move around more, I prefer a camera that I can move within the app.

Another thing I don’t love, is that it is only in the app. If I don’t have the app open, I don’t have any access to what is going on in that room. No notifications if he cries if the app is closed. I know a lot of cameras at a similar price point have this feature, so I was disappointed that the Owlet Cam does not.

Functionality issues

We bought the camera on Black Friday. Understandably, because of the high demand, it took longer than normal for us to receive the camera. And when it arrived, we had a hell of a time getting it set up.

You are supposed to be able to share the camera feed with up to 5 different devices. Right away, we had issues with that. I got it paired to my phone, but the camera would NOT connect to my husband’s phone. In order for him to connect to his phone, it disconnected mine. This went back and forth like this for an entire month.

I contacted customer support about this multiple times. Everything they suggested either did not work, or would work temporarily, but everything would return back to the way it was the next morning.

I wouldn’t even be able to tell you what specifically fixed the issue, because after over a month of this, and uninstalling and reinstalling the app dozens of times, updating both of our phones, and repairing countless times, we were able to get both of our phones to stay connected to the camera.

But the other huge issue we have had with it is that the camera itself rarely works. It will just load and load forever. I would say this could be user error, but we have 1Gig wifi in our apartment, so I know it isn’t because we don’t have the available bandwidth to support the camera.

I was really disappointed by this camera. At this point, it functions on a basic level but I feel it is an incredibly basic camera and you could find something for $100 less that does at least the same functions at the same quality.

It is TIME to announce the release of my social media guide, GROW. I have been working on this guide for months, gathering and compiling all of the information that I’ve learned over the last 4 ish years. There’s a lot. You can read the intro to the guide here.

Let’s talk about how many guides are out there. There are so many. So why would you buy MY guide, when you know there are dozens others accessible to you? I know everyone will say that their guide is different, which is why I want to SHOW you. Show you that I have spent years and years making mistakes, and learning from them, so you don’t have to. This guide is filled with all of the things that I truly wish I had known half a decade ago. But to really help show you, I’ll give you a few tidbits of information from the guide.

How to use hashtags effectively

Hashtags are one of the most important tools you have at your disposal on Instagram, and a lot of people don’t even realize it. If done appropriately, you can reach tens of thousands(to hundreds of thousands) or new accounts through hashtags alone.

But how do you go about selecting hashtags??

This is a lot of trial and error. And unfortunately, you can have hashtags work GREAT on one post, and then have it completely flop on the next post.

Often, I will spend just as long curating hashtags for a post as I do creating the caption for a photo. If I am lazy with my hashtags, it will show up in my analytics and I will get barely any hits on my post from hashtags.

One of the questions I get the MOST about hashtags, is how to find the right hashtags for your post. Unfortunately, I do not have the perfect list of hashtags for you that will result in your Instagram success. The reason for this, though, is because every account is different, and every post/photo is different.

So the hashtags you use for one photo won’t always be the same for the next photo.

Hashtags take trial and error. There are apps and websites that are designed to help you find hashtags that are relevant to your photo, but I personally have never found one that has provided hashtags that have boosted my impressions.

So, here’s my advice for finding the right hashtags for you and your account. Find a few accounts on Instagram that have very similar content to yours, and has good engagement on their account. Go through their posts and copy down their hashtags(the best way to do this is to type them all out in the notes app on your phone!). Do this for a few different posts to see if they change them up, and do this for a few different accounts. This will help you find hashtags that are popular among your niche.

Creating a community

Stop thinking about your audience as an audience.

Start thinking of them as friends.

No, you don’t have the time to be invested in each of their daily lives(and this isn’t necessarily something you want to try to do, either).

But there is a huge difference between someone who has a community of people who support them, and someone who has a passive audience.

That active community is the one that will benefit you. They will like your sponsored posts, they’ll share your posts in their stories, they’ll enter your giveaways, they’ll comment, DM, and generally be engaged. They’ll be INTERESTED in the things you’re posting, the mundane day to day that you share. Why?

The first step to cultivating, or creating, a community on Instagram, is to be authentic. Everyone says that you should be authentic. But what does it even mean?

You want your followers to relate to you, as well as care about the things you’re doing. I’ve seen influencers achieve this without posting incredibly relatable content. But they post things their followers LOVE. People know what to expect when they see your content pop up in their feed.

Don’t try to be somebody that you’re not. If you’re not someone who feels comfortable posting photos in a swimsuit at the beach, don’t feel pressure to do so. If you don’t like to post overly creative photos, tossing items in the air or striking dramatic poses, DON’T. If pictures of your food or baby or cute styled home are what makes you feel proud when you post, then THAT is what you should be posting.

It’s hard to not compare your content with everyone else’s, but you are YOU, so be authentic and stay true to what YOU want to post.

Instagram is all about who you know

Instagram is all about who you know.

Really.

Yes, you can absolutely see success by focusing solely on creating good content and engaging with your audience BUT you will absolutely see success sooner if you are connecting with other creators.

Now, you have to be careful with this. You need to be networking in hopes of genuine connection and NOT to climb the social ladder. If you are connecting with someone solely based on the amount of followers they have and not because you admire them or love their content, then you are doing it wrong.

Networking and connecting is actually super easy! It can be time consuming but in execution, is fairly simple.

If there are creators that you want to befriend, then interact with them. Comment on their posts, reply to their instagram stories. If they have social challenges, participate in them! A huge tip I have is to turn post notifications on for these creators that you want to connect with! If you are pretty consistently one of the first people commenting on posts or replying to stories, you will be on their radar! And most creators spend the first hour after they post, paying pretty close attention to their posts. So, if you comment within those first few minutes, there’s a good chance that they will click through to your profile to reciprocate the love.

All of this, and SOOOO much more(including more on these specific topics, too!) is included in my guide, GROW. The first 20 people to purchase it get $10 off, so grab your copy now to be one of the first!

The post What I’ve Learned About the Four Month Sleep Regression appeared first on Aurora McCausland.

]]>
One of my most popular blog posts to date is a post I wrote 2 ish years ago about the four month sleep regression. And I have learned so much since then. I’ve learned more about what causes the four month sleep regression, which I think helped us handle it a lot better the second time around.

What causes the four month sleep regression?

During 3-4 months, babies go through some huuuuge developmental changes. And one of these big changes is that their sleep cycles change to be like an adults sleep cycles. I’m not an expert on this, so I won’t pretend to be. But I do know that this change in sleep cycles makes it harder for them to sleep. But also, all of the developmental changes your baby is going through means that they need the sleep more than ever.

The thing that helped me understand all of this more than anything, was the Wonder Weeks app. They also have a book which I haven’t actually read, but I have the app and refer to it often! It is $2.99 to download, but absolutely worth it. It sets a calendar notification anytime Rosen is going to enter a new developmental leap, and gives me information on what to expect during the leap, as well as how long it is going to last.

Tools to get you through the sleep regression

I knew as soon as we hit the four month sleep regression. He went from sleeping 8-12 hour stretches at night and putting himself down, to treating bedtime like a nap. He would go down okay, but then would wake up 20 minutes later and be awake for houuurs. We would regularly not get him to sleep for the night until 10 or 11 pm. We spent way too long in this cycle. It just got worse and worse the longer it progressed.

Here’s the thing about sleep regressions. The first few nights, it feels like an anomaly. You just have to get through a few nights, and your baby will return to normal, right? I found myself cutting corners and doing anything I needed to get him to sleep. Which ended up making things way worse! Because it wasn’t an anomaly. It just kept getting worse.

Remaining Consistent

I wish I would’ve realized before the regression started how important it was to remain consistent. Now that Rosen is 5 months and we are officially out of the regression, we are having to completely re-sleep train him. Not that this is the necessary outcome after the sleep regression, but if we had stuck with our routines and practices, we would’ve had a much easier time for those few months.

A word on babywise

When Bastian was a baby, I read Babywise. It’s what my pediatrician recommended! And while I liked some of the things that it talked about, now that I’ve had more experience as a parent, there are a few things that I don’t use in practice. The biggest takeaway I had was the eat, wake, sleep cycle. However, when it comes to sleeping, Babywise is purposely very vague on sleep training in regards to crying. They say “crying won’t hurt your baby!” and basically leave it at that. They insinuate a few different timelines but they never outright talk about how much to let your baby cry. This made things really confusing for me. They essentially promote doing the Cry It Out method, but they don’t outright say it. I am personally against Cry It Out, and so this is something that didn’t sit right with me.

I did, however, love how much Babywise talks about teaching your baby independence. I truly believe that sleep training does teach your baby the problem solving skills they need to be well rounded person later in life. It can be really hard but I think it’s so important.

Taking Cara Babies

Shortly after Rosen was born, I came across Taking Cara Babies. Her gentle but effective methods really sat well with me. Her 3-4 month guide was so helpful during the sleep regression, and we just started her ABC’s of sleep for 5 months and up. She also shows all of the medical research and studies behind her guides, which gives me the peace of mind that I am doing the best possible thing for my baby.

What I’ve learned

I used to think that the sleep regression was a myth. But, having gone through it twice, I have much more peace of mind knowing that it is a developmental part of their life. It’s not just your baby refusing to sleep for the hell of it. Understanding the developmental side of it makes everything so much more bearable when you’re in the thick of it at 3 am for the 5th night in a row.

Something I learned early on with our first baby, is how important a bedtime routine is. It needs to be concise and clear. And it doesn’t need to be complicated! In fact, simple is better. It took me a lot longer with my second baby to establish a bedtime routine. Everything with the second baby takes a liiiittle bit longer, haha. But our routine is simple! I offer a feeding, followed by a bath, pajamas, and a bedtime story. And the thing that has made this routine so successful, is our OXO Tot Splash & Store Bathtub.

We have been using this tub since Rosen was less than a month old, and it has been so valuable. We use it every single time we give him a bath! There are so many things that I love about it that has kept me using it consistently. It has two sides, designed to help your baby in different stages as they grow! We have been using the sloped side, which cradles Rosen’s little baby body and keeps him in place as I bathe him. The other side will be perfect as he grows and can sit on his own!

But more than this, let’s talk about how much your back aches when you give your baby a bath in the regular tub. Stooping over the tub, straining to support your baby while also cleaning them, makes my entire back ache and throb. Truly the biggest reason I have continued exclusively using this OXO Tot Splash & Store Bathtub, is that it eliminates this. Completely. And the reason for this is because of the unique sloped sides!

I’m going to be honest about something. A few weeks ago, Rosen had a massive blow out on my bed. We’re talking down to his knees. I scrambled to strip him down without making any more of a mess, tossing all of his clothes as well as my bedding into the wash. When it came to cleaning Rosen, in an attempt to bathe him with what was closest and most accessible to me, I bathed him in the bathroom sink. And regretted it immediately. I was completely soaked within moments, and struggled to keep him supported as I tried to wash the poop off of him. He screamed the whole time, and I was screaming inside along with him. A sink bath may have been the closer option but it was the option I regretted!

We also live in an apartment. This means that I am constantly looking for ways to save space. Having an additional bathtub with nowhere to store it would not be a win for me. But the OXO Tot Splash & Store Bathtub is COLLAPSIBLE. I pull the drain out(another feature I love! So easy to drain and keep the bath warm without increasing the water level), and then collapse the tub in seconds. It even has a small plastic hook that hides under the outer rim that I use to hang it from the shower rod. The entire process is so fast and easy, and convenient. Once it’s dried, I’m able to tuck my collapsed tub out of the way.

There are so many things that I love about the OXO Tot Splash & Store Bathtub, and look forward to using it for the next year! I hate when one of my favorite baby products has such a short life span(so many are only utilized for a few months!) so having something that really feels worth investing in because it can be used for so long, is a huge win for me.

When we moved a few months ago, I had a lot of people reach out and ask me how. Rosen was barely over a month old when we moved, and Bastian was 2 and a half. We didn’t hire movers, although we had a wonderful group of friends who helped us move. I think that no matter the situation, it is doable, but here are the things we did to make it a little bit easier.

Have someone specifically in charge of the kids

I cannot imagine how we would’ve done this another way. And this can be you! If you want to just sit back and not worry about doing the packing and hauling boxes and unpacking, then assign yourself on kid duty. We had Bastian’s babysitter(someone he was already really comfortable with) come watch the two boys. I wanted to be in the midst of the moving, so it was nice that someone was dedicated to watch the boys and that it wasn’t me.

Put your kids in a separate room

It would’ve been absolute chaos if Bastian had been able to run free as we were loading up the moving truck at our house. Or while we were bringing boxes into our new apartment. Especially since our new apartment was on the third floor!

As we were moving out of the house, we had Bastian in the front room with a movie on. It was the last room to get packed out, so it was easiest to keep him there. And in the new apartment, he was in his own bedroom. We brought his boxes up first, and got his room unpacked while the rest of the boxes and furniture came up. We were able to get his room almost completely set up before he had to go to bed. And we were able to keep him out of the way which was a relief.

Embrace screen time

I mean it. If you want your kids out of the way and to be entertained, give them a screen. Bastian watched Coco as we packed up the house, and when he started to get restless in the new apartment, we handed him his tablet. It’s going to happen, if you want things to go smoothly, so just embrace it.

Keep your kids well fed

Snacks on snacks on snacks. Food will keep them occupied AND in a good mood. We did pizza for lunch, taco bell for dinner, and lots of candy, fruit snacks, and applesauce in between.

Try to finish moving by bedtime

At least, the part that would actually disrupt bedtime. Get them in their own bed by the time they would normally go to sleep. You can continue moving boxes and unpacking after bedtime, but make the kids rooms a priority. This will help them feel settled and get into a routine in your new home much quicker.

Truly, the biggest and most helpful tip I can provide is to have someone specifically in charge of taking care of your kids. Keeping them entertained and out of the way is the key to a smooth move! You can also have them go to a babysitters house during the move, if you think this would help them with the transition easier. For us, I knew Bastian would handle the move better if he was involved and knew that we were leaving the old house for good and could say goodbye. But you know your children, and you know what is best for them!

I debated on whether or not to publish a For Her gift guide, but figured that this guide is actually really versatile! You can pick gifts from this guide for your partner, friend, sister, mom, or really any other girl in your life. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a romantic relationship! Also a great place to get ideas to treat yourself!

Babe Lash. I am a DIE HARD babe lash fan. Through and through. I have stubby, sad lashes. But then Babe Lash entered my life. Their essential serum absolutely transformed my lashes. This gift is INCREDIBLE. You can put together a little gift box that includes 5 products(you can choose which 5!) to save a little and have a wider variety to gift from. Pro tip? Fill the box with 5 serums, and gift them to 5 different friends. You’re welcome.

Espresso machine. I’ve had my eye on this bad boy for a hot minute. The convenience of a really good latte without having to leave your house is soooo nice, and worth the price tag. This is a similar version of the same one from Mr. Coffee but $200 less!

Instant pot. While we are on the subject of kitchen appliances, if you know someone who doesn’t have an instant pot yet, you should probably just get them one. (This is directed at me. I need to buy myself an instant pot)

Waterproof booties. I am obsessed with JSlides, you all know that by now. I recently got these Taupe Suede waterproof booties and have been wearing them non stop. Such a perfect shoe for winter!

-Sugar scrubs and lotions. This is a great small gift to get for people you don’t want to spend a lot on. It’s also great for stocking stuffers! I love the sugar scrubs and lotion from Raw Sugar.

Kitchen aid. Will I ever strive from Kitchen appliances? Maybe. We’ll see. I have been desperately wanting to update my kitchen and so that’s what’s on the brain. But seriously, everyone deserves a kitchen aid.

Active wear giftcard. Active wear is actually a perfect gift. Whether they are super active or not, everyone needs new leggings and yoga pants. Because comfort. Unless you know their sizing and style preferences pretty intimately, I would suggest a giftcard! It’s a safer bet and that way they can get what they really want. Or, make sure you get a gift receipt so they can exchange if something doesn’t fit.

-Makeup. A versatile, easy gift! Head to Ulta or Sephora and pick up a handful of liquid lipsticks, highlighter, makeup brushes, or contour palettes. You know your girl, so you know what they like! Again, get a gift receipt, just in case.

-Handmade gifts off Etsy. I adore Etsy. I truly feel like we should be gifting handmade and local items more often! Which is why I love Etsy. You can get art prints(one of my fave things to get off Etsy), vintage clothes, and personalized gifts. So so many options.

Plants. Maybe this isn’t a common opinion, BUT I think so many people would appreciate being gifted a plant. If you aren’t going to be gifting in person, there are companies like The Sill that will ship the plant directly to their door, pot included, and will include a care card to ensure they can take care of their plant. Or if they can’t take care of plants? Faux plants.

What else would you add to this gift guide?

If you’re shopping for anyone else this holiday season, check out my other gift guides!
