Seth and I have been desperately wanting a little vacation. We have a few trips planned for later this year, but we wanted a chance to get away for a few days. Seth’s birthday was last weekend, and it was the perfect opportunity for a quick weekend getaway in Denver. Neither of us had ever been to Denver, so we weren’t really sure what to expect or really any plans, but we ended up having so much fun.
When I say that this trip was quick, I really mean it was quick. We flew into Denver on Sunday at 1pm, and we flew home Monday night at 7pm. But we were able to eat so much good food, and sleep in a little. And really, I couldn’t ask for more.
Where to Stay in Denver
We wanted to stay somewhere that was right downtown, and would give us the ability to really experience the culture of Denver. We stayed at The Art, a Hotel, and it was perfect. Soft beds, the entire hotel was filled with art, and amazing food. We spent a lot of our time out exploring, but it’s so important to have a good home base on a vacation! The Art was perfect for that. I really just wanted a comfy place to get a good nights sleep, since our lovely toddler likes to wake up before 7am most days. We slept until almost 9(well, Seth did. My body woke up by 8) and it was incredible.
How to Spend a Weekend Getaway in Denver
We spent a lot of time driving around the city in the Mazda CX5 we borrowed for our trip, and we were able to see so much of the city. I’m always so grateful when we decide to get a car instead of taking public transportation! If you know me, you know how important brunch is to me. This will sound silly, but as we sat eating brunch on Monday, Seth said, “alright, when are we moving here?”. Which is definitely a testament to how much we enjoyed Denver. But it’s even more of a testament to how much we loved brunch. Snooze AM Eatery is a popular spot, and I have always wanted to try it. But there isn’t one in Utah. I tweeted at them and they said they’d give me a free meal if I moved to Denver. So I think we’re in a relationship now.
Other places we visited that I would highly recommend if you’re in Denver are:
Little Man Icecream. The flavors are unique and delicious. The lines are looooong. But we lucked out and it started POURING rain right after we got there, so the line got short real quick.
Twist and Shout. We came here for the records, since I’m horrible at picking the right records as gifts for Seth’s birthday. It had a huge collection, and we spent well over an hour wandering around here.
That’s basically all we did in Denver. Drove around in the cutest Mazda CX5, stayed at the Art a Hotel, got some records, and ate a lot. We loved Denver so much that we’re actually planning to head back to visit at the end of August, for a few more days this time. If anyone has recommendations of things we missed(since I’m sure we missed a lot!), let me know!
